The absence of smell in my life has given me a unique perspective on how I interpret the world. I use the other senses not as substitutes but as collaborators in the quest to understand what it means to smell, through sight, touch, sound, and taste.

Once this is achieved, one is surrounded by complete abstraction where personal consideration and interpretation reign

For many, smell is an unconscious guide, linking us with memories, emotions, and the environment around us. Without this sense, I have had to navigate life relying on other ways to experience the richness of the world.

Vision helps me to capture the fleeting moments of smell through colour and form.

Touch allows me to feel the contours of an invisible sensation.

Sound offers a rhythm and atmosphere that mimic the way scent surrounds and envelops.

Taste opens the door to the intricacies of flavour that smell often enhances.

I invite you to question the relationship to the unseen, to the unnoticed, and to the intangible aspects of daily life.

By embracing the absence of one sense, I have learned to lean into the heightened presence of the others, and through this process, I’ve come to redefine what it truly means to ‘sense’.
